Atos is successfully providing data-driven digital services for the 2023 European Games

Krakow, Poland – July 11, 2023

Today, Atos announces the successful delivery of data-driven digital services for the European Games 2023, which took place from June 21 to July 2, 2023, in Krakow, Małopolska, and Silesia in Poland. Atos, a long-standing supporter of the Olympic Movement, and the European Olympic Committees (EOC), the governing body of Europe’s National Olympic Committees, joined forces to enhance engagement for fans and athletes.

At the third European Games, Atos acted as the IT integrator, responsible for the secure collection, processing, and distribution of data across all sporting events. A team of more than 400 Atos experts in Poland, supported by 25 experts in Madrid, delivered technology including:

All these services were integrated into a data-driven digital platform — a comprehensive end-to-end solution designed to meet the needs of athletes, spectators, and volunteers. In total, 40,000 sports fans used the platform to seamlessly purchase tickets, view results, or watch video content on mobile devices or computers. The mobile application was downloaded by nearly 12,000 users on Android and iOS.

Another objective of the EOC and Atos was to enhance the experience of nearly 7,000 athletes competing in Poland. A dedicated section of the platform enabled athletes, National Olympic Committees, and member federations to easily share personalized video clips of their performances on social media channels. During the event, the Atos team created and distributed more than 725 videos per day, reaching an audience of approximately 30 million viewers. Other innovations allowed athletes to download their own diplomas and NFT medals secured by blockchain technology via the mobile app. Visitors at competition venues were also able to experience an immersive version of the European Games in virtual reality (VR).

Hasan Arat, Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the European Games 2023, said: “Atos has unique expertise in digital services for sports and major events. We are proud of the innovations we implemented together to enhance the experience and engagement of athletes and visitors at the European Games 2023, contributing to the great success of the event.”

Nacho Moros, Chief Operating Officer for Major Events at Atos, said: “The European Olympic Committee aimed to drive innovation and participation at these European Games. We are proud to have worked with them on new solutions and features that will inspire the entire Olympic Movement. We look forward to 2027 to continue improving the technologies behind the European Games.”

Atos is the official digital technology partner for the European Games 2023 and 2027. Through its Major Events division, Atos is the only international IT services company with more than 30 years of experience and expertise in delivering technology for major sporting events.
