A system phone is a specialized telephone device designed for PBX programming. It provides additional functionality for administering a local telephone network, such as calling internal extensions, creating conference calls, transferring calls between subscribers, and much more.
The number of buttons on a system phone depends on the model, and they are not always sufficient to control all required station ports. Therefore, some employees (for example, a secretary) who work with a large number of internal and external lines are additionally provided with consoles (special panels with a large number of buttons, with or without light indication. These panels display the lines that “did not fit” on the system phone.)
The maximum number of system phones varies for each PBX. Some models allow all internal devices to be system phones, while others have limitations on their total number.
System phones are recommended for employees who require maximum convenience in using the telephone. Typically, these are secretaries and managers (those who use the phone more actively at work).
