The corporate telephone network of the State Unitary Enterprise “Yuzhnoye” Design Bureau has been modernized

The Infotel Group team has implemented a project titled «Technical Upgrade and Enhancement of the Telephony System of SE "Yuzhnoye Design Office named after M.K. Yangel"». Within a short timeframe, the supply of the necessary materials was organized to modernize the company’s outdated cabling infrastructure. The installation of equipment and software made it possible to deploy a modern corporate telephony network at the core of the enterprise, providing high-quality telephony services and additional features for 12 buildings (nodes) of the organization.

Technical Implementation

The total capacity of the new telephony system exceeds 3,000 ports.

The new corporate telephony network is based on the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE) PBX. This solution supports expansion up to 5,000 ports per node and provides a wide range of additional services. The system is built on Alcatel Crystal Technology, which ensures a non-blocking architecture, guaranteeing connectivity for every subscriber and eliminating the “line busy” issue. The system supports redundancy features for the central processor, communication channels, and power supply systems, significantly increasing overall reliability. The Alcatel-Lucent OXE PBX is connected to the public switched telephone network via digital and IP trunk lines, ensuring stable, high-quality communication with subscribers worldwide without interruptions or interference. All nodes are interconnected into a single network using proprietary ABC-F signaling. This topology enables a uniform level of service across all departments of the enterprise. 

 

The new PBX allows connection of analog, digital, and IP subscriber terminals. Users with digital and IP terminals benefit from an enhanced service level, which, in addition to high-quality telephony, includes features such as caller name display, access to a unified corporate directory, name-based dialing using a full alphanumeric keypad on digital/IP phones, the ability to connect additional key modules with programmable speed-dial buttons, and more.

Management

The system is managed from a single central node using the Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista 8770 software application. This application is based on a client-server architecture, which greatly simplifies administration: the physical management server is located at the central node and connected to the PBX, while administrators can remotely perform maintenance, configuration changes, and other operations from anywhere within the corporate network using a client application. 

To ensure security, a multi-level password-based access control system has been implemented.

The Alcatel-Lucent OXE PBX is easily scalable: subscriber capacity can be increased by installing additional boards or licenses without shutting down the system, and therefore without service interruption. Future plans include expanding functionality to further improve employee productivity at SE "Yuzhnoye Design Office named after M.K. Yangel".
